My iPhone is perfect - I’m the only owner and it’s never had s screen replacement or repair. My home button randomly stopped working but Siri would work 1/5 tines when pushing down and very occasional double tap to bring up multitasking. However I have had nothing all day from the Home Button! Touch ID is still fine?? I have accessibility for my home screen in the meantime but please help!
First of all, I would encourage you to turn on AssistiveTouch as a fail safe. It is in Settings/General/Accessibility. As for what caused the problem with the Home button, it’s hard to say. If you r phone has never been opened/repaired, then it could be caused by drops or other impacts that occur over the lifespan of the device. It could also be just a mechanical failure of the actuator. The Home Button can be replaced but only Apple can replace it AND maintain TouchID functionality.
