I purchased a 16gb iphone 4S on Ebay. (I have my ebay invoice to prove it). When powered on, the screen says “iphone disabled” & " swipe for emergency". I have tried multiple time to restore the phone by connecting to itunes without any luck. It takes forever (over an hour) & then I get a message stating that there was an error or an interuption (no interuptions should be occurring). I may need to attempt to return the phone for a refund (hopefully b/c I’ve never had to do that before so idk how that process works on ebay). But before I do, I was wondering if I have any other options? I do know how to open up a 4S I’ve replaced a battery in one for my son & a screen on another for a friend, & I have my own apple id too because I’ve had an iphone 3g & a 4S previously myself. Before I contact Ebay & then have to buy yet another phone, is there anything else I can do to get this one working?
If the phone was sold as functional, you should just click on eBay to ‘resolve a problem’ and file an item not as described case. It will be super easy to return it—and you definitely want to do that if the phone can’t restore easily. Be sure to contact the seller first, it will hurt their selling scores if you file an item not as described case, so they may want you to just send it back for a refund directly from them. jessa
First i would try turning the phone off and then holding the home button while plugging it into iTunes, this will connect the phone in recovery mode. If the restore still doesn’t work then I’d try a different usb port or computer. Also an exact error number would help diagnose your problem.
