I recently received a phone and was told it caught fire when plugged in through the charging port. My observation that it was just a cheap charger that caused the fire. The iPhone will not power on and I want to know if there is anything I can do to save it. The person said the phone was at 10% when she went to plug it in. I’m wondering if there is just not power going to the battery and I need to replace the charging port. Thanks
As @juax suggested, pictures would certainly help here however, in my opinion, if the charger caught or caused fire, there is most likely extensive damage to the charging circuit on the logic board and probably the charge port flex as well. You’ll likely want to replace the battery no matter what, try a new charge port and if that doesn’t solve the problem then you will need to have the logic board looked at by an experienced micro-solderer.
