Hello, my iPhone fell down hard and after it started restarting and getting the battery from 50% to 10% then 13% and again random numbers. After I changed the battery and keep doing they same thing. Anyone knows the reason of this ? And a way to fix it ?
Based on history, “the battery percentage is jumping around after a hard drop” I would conclude one of the following:
- The original battery’s connector snapped - not very likely, and ruled out since battery replaced;
- The battery connector on the board snapped - possible, though for me personally it will be a first - will need re-soldering the existing one or replacing it;
- The gas gauge line or the charging circuit in general got damaged - need trouble shooting at board level. The type of damage can be: a cap partially shorted due to spike in current during the drop, broken trace, damaged charging chip, etc.
They may fall hundred times and still work or fall once and go bad.. despite all Apple efforts to make them rock solid iPhones are not made for falling. If battery replacement didn’t change the picture it’s likely some component in charging circuit was damaged or dislodged by the hit. You’ll need an experienced micro-solderer to take care of your phone.
