I would like to know if I replace the battery would that fix the blank screen? the screen goes blank however it still turns on and I can get phone calls and text messages aswell.
Definitely not—however you have an equal split of likelihood between bad LCD and short to ground on the backlight circuit. Before ordering a new LCD I’d first either figure out how to take a multimeter measurement of the backlight line, or plug in some other working screen as a diagnostic test.
