Hi, i have a problem with my iPhone.the lcd backlight is not working anymore.the iPhone felt down, and the dislpay incl. the touchscreen was destroyed. so i bought new touch and lcd set… after replacing my destroyed lcd, everything was working fine, incl. backlight. But then the backlight went off.. i opened the iPhone again…seated all cables again into the iPhone, and it worked again…but only for a few minutes, till i moved/shaked the iPhone… i guess that the connection for the backlight is not well connected…but i don´t know what cable is responsible for the backlight connection…I uploaded 2 pictures…can you say me which connection on each picture is for the backlight? On the picture nr2 the thing numbered 1 seems a little bit destroyed… Picture1:[URL| http://sebastian-eitel.de/media/1.JPG] Picture2:[URL| http://sebastian-eitel.de/media/2.JPG] Thanks, Sebastian

Hi, finally i didn´t get it working. I just sent the iPhone to a iPhone repair shop, and they repaired it for me. He wrote me, that there were more errors within the iPhone… Well, now it´s working! Thanks for your answers anyway.

this will fix it if it is a 3Gs…

My sons 3gs was water damaged and the backlight stopped working. I was told it was the LCD, so I gt a new one off ebay for £22 and fitted it myself. It is now working and the connection for the new LCD was number 1.

if replacing the lcd doesn’t work. it could be there is a burnt pin on the lcd connector on the board or the backlight coil is bad. either one requires soldering on the motherboard and is pretty difficult. but usually either one of these is due to liquid damage. try applepierepair.com. they are masters at this stuff

I guess is a defective/damaged LCD. Try to turn the iPhone on and put under the sun light or under another good light source and watch if you can see something, I mean a a very tenuous image.

I repaired an iPhone using a complete Touch/LCD and the phone seems to work except for the backlight. As there is only three cables from the screen to the rest I wonder which one of these that powers the backlight? Second question could of course be - is there any risk that I damage something else during the process that could effect the backlight?

buy a new lcd digitizer that should do the trick,

for Iphone 3G have different coil and IC specs you cant just use the 3GS coil in 3G it will cause damage and possible fire. you can buy the 3G coil and backlight IC with the correct specs from here for less than 5$
