Hi everyone, This is a crappy situation. I have an iphone 8 that only charges with wireless charging because pin 5 in the charging port is pushed in and is unreachable. I went out and bought a wireless charging pad one hour ago. I tested the pad in the store with the iphone and it went fine. The iphone booted no problem and started charging. I shut it off, bought that pad and when i was home the iphone refused to boot. The home button vibrates when i click it. It shows the apple logo for 2 minutes, then shuts off and then tries to reboot again. This has been going on for an hour right now. I dont know what to do. I can not connect the phone to my computer because of the broken charging port. The phone has been in water but that shouldn’t be a problem since its water proof. Please somoene, i need your help. Kind regards, Timon

First of all, the phone is not water proof, it is water resistant. That’s a big difference and even Apple states that the water resistance will degrade over time and it does not warranty any issues related to liquid damage. What that means is “we did the best we could but don’t tempt fate” :>). When was the phone in water…a long time ago or recently? If it was a long time ago, then I would encourage you to replace the charge port to see if you can get the phone to communicate with a computer. That way you’d at least be able to recover the data. If it was recent, then all of these issues probably have water as the common denominator. This phone will need to be properly decontaminated and diagnosed.
