Hi,

Have an iPhone 8 which cant autofocus. I have tried the camera in another iPhone 8 and it works there. I have also tried several cameras in the iPhone 8. It seems like its the close ups that that wont focus, but i cant say for sure. Have anyone encountered this problem before? Would you know if there are any filters/ICs that controls the autofocus?

Thanks!

Found the issue, it back case had a faulty so the camera couldnt move freely. Added a little foam bumper around the camera. And it worked!

There are no available schematics for the iPhone 8 so you will have to do some educated guesswork based on what info we do have for the 8 Plus. The iPhone 8 has only one connector for the rear camera whereas the 8 Plus has two (J3900 & J4000). The 8 Plus camera is more advanced so there are going to be features which are not present in the 8. Ideally, if you have another iPhone 8 on hand, you could compare the diode mode measurements of the RCAM connector to see if anything stands out. The iPhone 8 rear camera will have several power lines controlling it. Take a look at this snapshot of the 8 Plus to give you an idea of what could be in play.
