So I have ordered two iPhone 7 replacement screens and the home button doesn’t work with either of them. After taking off the metal shield on the back of the screen I noticed the ribbon was missing that goes down next to the home button connector on the right of it. I thought at first maybe it was a revision and didn’t need it since the second screen i ordered was the same way. Any advice or am I just getting faulty equipment?

This other answer, I have no idea what he’s talking about. Looks like a faulty touch panel flex from your photo, and as for the home button, I’ve had it plenty of times before where it won’t work for several attempts at fitting, then it’ll work absolutely fine if the screw on the back of the home button is done up just to the right tightness. If you have a multimeter with fine tips, you can check continuity between the top cable which plugs into the logic board, and the flex which the home button plugs into. Test each pin, it’ll give you a rough idea if that flex is faulty. Either way, I’d be inclined to send that display back and get another replacement, or buy off another vendor. If in the UK, I can supply a refurbished display, as I refurbish my own.

You have to transfer your old ribbon from the old screen to the new one because there’s a chip on there that has a paired serial number. If you just get any replacement cable, your Touch ID will not work anymore because the phone will notice that the serial numbers don’t match up anymore.
