Chosen Solution
Had a iphone 7 plus come in for no power, replaced tristar and it powers now but wont charge when the phone is sleeping. Has a steady 1amp pull while booting to lock screen, the moment the screen goes black, power draw falls to 0. If i wake it power draw is around 0.3a. Tried a second tristar, replaced tigris and q2101 next to it, new charge port and battery with no change. Hoping someone has either seen this or can point me in the right direction what to check next.
Try another battery and check battery connector. A bad connection to battery can cause this weird behaviour. I had it happen in a iPad air 2 before.
Ben is right, try the battery connector. It might also be that you need a new charging port.
