my iPhone 7 (a1778) has started to only charge when it is completely turned off. battery health is at 76ish. whenever it is connected it shows the “unlock iPhone to use accessories”. Windows does detect it but is unable to recognize and interact with it. it says device descriptor request failed. it is not recognized in recovery mode either. it works fine other than this. i also don’t see any symptoms of loop disease.
I would have your tristar ic tested. It’s the chip that controls the data in and out of the phone and it also controls the charging. The most common reason they fail is an aftermarket charging cable that is not MFI Certified. It will not be able to control the power spikes and damage the tristar ic. Most good shops should have a tester. If that is the issue you will need someone who does micrsoldering. I would recommend jessa from ipad rehab ipadrehab.com or Jason from sts telecom ststelecom.com. you can watch their videos on YouTube. I hope the information helps you.
