About a month ago, the charging port on my phone seemed a bit faulty. It had gotten to the point where you have to find the right spot for it to charge. Last night, it did not want to charge so I did a reset, which had worked previously. This time, the phone would not want to turn on. I plugged it in and it would say the phone was plugged in but it wouldn’t turn on. I bought a new charger, charger box, and have let it sit about an hour. Still nothing. Do you fix Charging ports?

iFixit doesn’t fix devices for you, they show you how to fix it yourself. If you want to change the charge port, take a look at this guide to see if you are comfortable…then order order the necessary parts if you want to try. Otherwise, you can probably find a local shop to do this for you.

My advice would be to buy a usb ammeter—this is a tool that you can place in-line between your charging brick and your charging cable to see what the current consumption is through the usb port on your device. This can help you tell whether you are getting that ‘perfect’ connection when you plug in a charging cable into a port that is iffy. Your other alternative is to simply replace the charge port. This is a DIY job with experience, but iPhone 7 charge port is one of the more difficult ones. If you are a fastidious type, order a new charge port from iFixit and give it a shot. If you’re more ham-handed, then a trip to your local mom and pop cell phone repair shop that has great reviews is your best bet. This is what I mean by usb ammeter. http://mendonipadrehab.com/supply-store#
