Hi. My iPhone 7 suffered water damage because I had my screen replaced by a third party dude. This guy did not seal it properly so water got into it. My aftermarket screen colour was dull washed and not too bright. My question is, if I have my logic board replaced to fix water damage. Is there any problem that could happen? Like is there any difference between aftermarket logic board and OEM apple logic board. I hated the aftermarket screen because it wasn’t as clean and sharp
There are only original logic boards…if you buy one, it was pulled out of another phone. Personally, I don’t feel replacing a logic board is worthwhile. It’s pretty much as expensive as a pre-owned replacement phone and you don’t really know what the history of the board is. It’s orignal housing probably took a beating if it is available as board-only…food for thought. Remember, the logic board IS THE PHONE. As for the previous tech not replacing the seal, I agree that is not the definition of best practices. However, lots of phone owners are magnetically attracted to low cost repair shops. There’s a reason they are low cost and unfortunately you found out the hard way. One thing I will say in the tech’s defence, even if he/she had replaced the adhesive seal, there is no guarantee it would have prevented the water from getting in. It’s impossible to properly seal a device in a non factory automation, non-clean environment. Anybody who says they can is only fooling themselves (and their customers). Heck, even almighty Apple can’t do this perfectly; they expressly state that water damage is not covered by their warranty and they only state it is water and dust resistant. Hardly an iron-clad guarantee.
