Chosen Solution @carlin23 - I think I see your problem here! If you compare your 2nd pic of your first update with this one you’ll see you lost a component! Note the missing resettable PolySwitch link (green SMT device). So your system got hit with a large surge which blew it up! You’ll need to check the rest of the circuit to see if something else got damaged or was the cause of this failure before you replace it....

Chosen Solution This happened months after I last opened it to replace the battery. All other mechanical switches, and the digitizer itself, still work fine. There are few complaints to be found on the net about the home button ‘snap’, so apparently the mechanism is pretty reliable. I reopened the mini 2 to check for shorts or missing insulator tape, that was all fine, though I re-taped the trouble spots just in case....

Chosen Solution My Canon Powershot SX40 HS camera will turn on only once per battery insertion. i.e., put battery in, the camera turns ON OK. Turn camera OFF, then press the On/Off button and the camera will not turn on a second time. Take the battery out, put the same battery back in, press the On/Off button, and the camera turns ON and everything works fine again. Turn it OFF once more and it won’t come back on until the battery is removed and then reinserted (same battery)....

Chosen Solution Can I replace this socket, resolder it, or is it held on enough by the bottom connectors (which are intact) that it will work fine? The solder pads have been ripped off from the anchor pads that used to be secured to the board. What I would do is use either epoxy or superglue carefully to adhere the connector back down flat to the board. If you do go this route make sure to not get any of it in the connector....
