Chosen Solution Hi everyone! I have a mid 2010 A1289 Mac Pro 5,1 It turns on. Front, rear, psu and gpu fans spin slowly, both optical drive and hdd spin on turn on, but there is no chime, no video and no power to keyboard, so resetting PRAM is not possible. If diag button pressed, PSU PWROK (Green), 5V STBY (Yellow), EFI DONE (Green), GPU OK (Green). I removed the backup battery to reset the Real Time Clock chip, and after doing this, the computers turns on automatically when plugged in ( as in power-on on ac back configuration)....

Is there a way to replace the processor? or can anything be replaced that could make it run faster? or would you just recommend riding this out and getting a new one? I still have over 80 GB of storage left as sometimes that can slow it down when it gets too full....

Chosen Solution My macbook pro A1297 mid2009 appeared to work fine. However, when the battery runs out of power it simply shut down and doesn’t come back working until the battery has enough power to turn it on. Then I removed the logic board and observed that when battery is not connected the logic board simply doesn’t power on at all. I saw something about the capacitor C7771 and I measured the voltage on it and it’s in agreement with the scheme....

Chosen Solution Hi, I gave my MacBook pro to a third party repair and they say they repaired whole logic board and charged me for it. Now it has same exact problem just after I got it. I totally believe they didn’t changed anything, Is there anyway to confirm the logic board is same and the serial number is same as the original logic board. Thanks Yes! Chosen Solution My mac book won’t boot up after shutdown for long periods. The service guy told the issue is with keyboard and replaced the keyboard. But the issue is not yet resolved, it works sometimes and it won’t boot up first time in the morning after being shut down for more than 5/6 hrs. I would recommend trying a trackpad cable (£10), if the trackpad is not recognised on the 13" 2015 models, the keyboard will not work at all....
Chosen Solution The said MBP resets its system time after a shutdown when the battery is drained. I know some macs have a PRAM battery. Does this MBP (MacbookPro 5,3) have a PRAM battery too? Or can this be fixed by replacing the regular battery (which is not in its best shape, almost 50% of the original charge)? Sounds like it’s time for a new battery and PRAM battery. Chosen Solution i had my iphone screen done by a aftermarket shop. the color is a bit dull and washed and its giving me anxiety i dont even wanna go on my phone. the sharp clean look has faded away fromthe screen. are all third party shops like this? i dont have a apple store near me so should i just keep trying another shop? or is it IMPOSSIBLE to get a good screen with good colour unless its repaired by apple....

Hi, Here’s a link to a video that shows how to dis-assemble the laptop to gain access to the GPU (and CPU) to refresh the thermal paste. At 11:12 minutes into the video the GPU and CPU are both seen uncovered.

Hi Benjamin, Okay, so you had to pull the motherboard to get to the left speaker, which means you had to unplug the keyboard. Now I’m not an expert on the MacBook Pro models, but on the regular MacBooks, the power button is basically just another keyboard button that gets a little special treatment for power on and off....

Chosen Solution My laptop was working perfectly fine until a friend wanted to use my charger on his laptop. after he used it on his laptop. I plugged it up to mines when i needed it and it wouldnt charge the light was just dim green. when i test the charger magsafe connector i see a reading so the charger is working i believe. I also replaced the dc board, battery and charger still no luck the charger lights show a faint / dim green light and thats all....

Chosen Solution So yesterday I went to clean my laptop and ended up removing the heatsink to clean the thermal paste (it was in a very bad shape and I had never cleaned it). At one point I spilled some isopropyl alcohol (almost 100% purity) on some wires near the hinge. Figured it wouldn’t do harm so I just left it to dry. After that I spent 1h cleaning and reassembling the laptop....
