I then heated up the board with my hot air station and tried the restore again and it succeeded but once the board cooled down it rebooted and started the loop again. However, I replaced the screen and then I tried to turn it on, and it didn’t start up.. with the charger in, and no home button-cable connected it shows the Apple-logo and then fades to black in a kinda’ pixelated way, but remains on. Backlight is showing, but when I try to start it with the home button-cable attached it won’t turn on....

I couldn’t find the component to put it back, and I didn’t pay enough attention before hand to know what it was, nor do I have a donor board for this model. I decided to test if it might have been a filter capacitor or something, and reassembled things, just to get a boot loop, so I need to find out what the component was and replace it....

Chosen Solution My MacBook pro will not boot with the keyboard flex cable plugged into the motherboard. If I plug it in while the machine has booted without, it will immediately shut off and will not turn back on until I remove the flex cable. Any ideas? Does the MagSafe Light turn from orange to green when you press the power button with the charger and keyboard cable plugged in? If that does happen the MacBook is performing a SMC Reset (Ctrl+Shift+Power button keys held down) due to the keyboard actually being faulty usually from liquid damage....

Chosen Solution When connecting to a different magsafe charger, I heard a brief electronic zap (no sparks or smoke) and then the laptop went completely dead. Charging indicator on magsafe has weak green light. Pressing the battery indicator button on the side does nothing. Have tried resetting SMC… nothing. Unlike the 27" models which has 4 slots and most can support the 16 MB RAM modules which at this point in time is the largest RAM module available.

However, it can’t charge my cellphone. I use my USB-to-MicroUSB cable and plug it to the extra USB port, and it failed too… I use the cable everyday to charge it (plug to wall charger), so I’m sure it’s not the cable problem....
