Chosen Solution Hi folks, so I opened up my iMac to swap the hdd for an ssd and accidentally damaged the first 4 or 5 pins (from the left) of the LVDS connector (on the end that connects to the logic board). I didn’t notice it and when i booted the computer, all I got was a black screen. I’ve already ordered a new cable, meanwhile. All is well with the LVDS port on the logic board (well, apparently)....

Chosen Solution Will quit running and i can tap the thermostat or board that thermostat is in and it will kick back on. Hi @rogernivens , If you don’t do this what happens? Does it turn itself on a bit later or not? Is it keeping the correct temp in both the fridge and the freezer? It may be that the fridge is just in the auto defrost cycle. This turns the fridge off once every 8-12 hours (depending on maker) so that the frost buildup on the evaporator in the freezer and in the freezer compartment can be melted and drained away....

Chosen Solution When I plug my charger into my laptop the charging light turns blue then red then switches off and I can’t switch my laptop on, the charger also is loose in the port Hi, Perhaps the battery has been depleted too far to start the laptop because you can’t charge the laptop correctly. If the charger feels loose in the charge port, there may be a problem with the DC-In jack....

Chosen Solution If you are reseating the lcd flex cable after repair and you fiddle with it to get it back in can that cause any issue Fiddling with it shouldn’t cause any issues but in extreme cases, it can damage the connector, either on the screen end or the logic board. If you suspect you damaged it, then look at it under magnification to see. If the pins are physically damaged, then the connector has to be replaced (logic board) or the screen replaced depending on which connector end is damaged....

Chosen Solution Can you replace a LM201W01 (SL)(A3) with a LM201E01 (ST)(B2) or LM201W01 (A5)(K2)? Not sure what the numbers in () represent. The suffix provides EDID or Extended Display Identification Data. AFAIK each manufacturer can make/use their own codes… e.g. SL may mean Silver, A may mean black (surrounding the crystals) B2 could mean glossy, or A3 may mean matte. I think I read someplace that there’s possibly 500 different compatible screens for most computers....

Chosen Solution Can someone assist me why does my LG tv show like this? @ianmarco sorry to be the bearer of bad news. what you have here is a broken LCD. There is not repairing possible. It needs to be replaced. Trouble will be finding a new LCD for this TV. It will most likely cost you more than a new TV if you can even find it.

Is it possible that long screw damage can cause short circuit in Logic board so the iPhone can’t power on at all, no vibrate even good battery and iTunes cannot regognize the iPhone? I have iPhone 6 and seems that there are three possible long screw damage. The middle one and the both bottom. I already started by removing right bottom screw hole and there are quite impressive long screw damage :) Everything else seems good in this board (under microscope) so I would like to know if I can just start repair those long screw damages and make iPhone alive again....

Chosen Solution hi, i just changed my broken iPhone screen using a third party screen and jkept the same home button everything work but the touched home button is slightly loose with i think is causing the touch id to be erratic as sometime it won’t recognise my fingerprint and when i add a fingerprint it is really difficult as sometime it might say “cannot read this fingerprint” or “you moved your finger slightly” etc managed to do it with one finger but sometimes it will unlock the device other time it won’t....

Chosen Solution My mac shouts down when is not plugged in. Specially when I watch videos on youtube or on a VLC. Now it’s doing it more often, even when I’m emptying the trash. Battery health is at 84%, and once its off stays the same way, so it’s not the battery. It doesn’t over heat (according to iStat) I’ve opened it to dust off and still doesn’t solve it, so it’s not dust either....

Chosen Solution Hello, I have a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro with a 2.6 i5 and 8gb of RAM. Randomly it will no longer power on, and through standard troubleshooting I unplugged the battery and connected the charger, and the light will turn from green to amber - indicates its charging, but without the battery plugged in, that doesn’t make sense! I have replaced the logic board, which worked perfectly fine for about 15 minutes before the same issue started happening again....

Chosen Solution Random issues all over. We did replace the screen about 6 months ago, but the issues have been happening before and after the repair. One- Prox sensor sometimes works, sometimes doesnt. Phone will power off randomly, apps like Snapchat seem to trigger it more. And the most annoying issue is that 75% of the time, it takes multiple presses to get the power and home buttons to work. Very frustrating....

Chosen Solution My Maytag dryer model Mdg9700aww has an error code that looks like an capital E without the top line followed by a 5. Was told that it means thermistor was bad. Replaced that but still get weird error code. Anyone know what the code means? Hi @trytofixit14 , Does the error code look like a t S perhaps? Chosen Solution I recently got a new Macbbook Pro. Problbem is what you’re exactly seeing here and it’s specific to the bb key. I touch it once and it puts two b characters for me most of the time, but not always. This key is much looser and more sensitive than the others. Suggested by @pydev, I removed the key cap. It does work flawlessly without the key cap. But when I put it back, same old story....

Chosen Solution Hi there!! I recently rescued an early-2011 15” MacBook Pro that was going to landfill because of Apple.. Excuse me, GPU failure! It will boot sometimes but most of the time, I’d get the traditional white screen of death. I DID try to disable the dGPU by following Dosdude’s tutorial, however, it did not work at all. I’m now looking into the possibility of finding a mid-2012 15” logic board to put in it....

Chosen Solution what does it mean when my phone has many multi-coloured lines going up the screen causing it to freeze and all my screen having blackouts, does anybody know what part of my phone is causing all this to happen? If you got it fixed by someone under 30 days they should replace the screen for no charge under warranty. Either a loose screen connection, damaged screen FPC connectors on the logic board or a faulty screen....

Chosen Solution Why is the iPhone 7 LCD Screen and Digitizer priced so high here at ifixit? with a price tag of $84.99, everywhere else I check prices range from $34-$50 with $34 being the average price at the moment, are you guys getting the parts directly from Apple or are they aftermarket ? If it’s aftermarket what separates yours from all the others out there and can you provide a serial or model number of this LCD screen / digitizer?...

Chosen Solution So after washing my phone in the sink, the home button doesn’t click for some reason. Flicking the mute switch and using things with haptic feedback such as scrolling in the timer and calls do not vibrate the phone. When I press the home button, nothing vibrates but it goes back to the home screen. Also, touch id still works. I also used TestM and tested vibration and there was no vibration....

Chosen Solution I replaced the screen on an iPhone 8, after the replacement screen booted up just fine and worked, however it wouldn’t charge so the phone died. iTunes does not recognize that my phone is plugged in when I use a PC. I checked the components near the battery connector and all seem to be there and intact, unless I’m missing something. What could be the issue that is not allowing this phone to charge?...
