Chosen Solution Hi, I have a piece of history… A1297 17inch mid 2010 first gen i7 It has the aluminium bezel… just coming from mobo repair as the gone bad LVDS cable caused a bit of havoc around the connector. My question: the aluminium bezel on top of actual LCD panel - is that glued or clipped in? Can’t seem to find much…they are rare compared to usual glass covered panels....

Chosen Solution I have a water damaged Mac Air and like an idiot didn’t back it up regularly. Is it possible to remove the hard drive and install it into another Mac Air and retrieve what was on there? Or is there a simpler way to do this? The OWC Envoy Pro may be a good solution. Chosen Solution I recently discovered 2 Mac Minis in my basement during a purge. These used to be the ones used by my kids eons ago. I’m looking to make them into headless servers (because I’m bored and it’s cold outside) but investigating upgrades before I decide. I will mostly likely use them as web development boxes or local file servers. I couldn’t find the DVI to VGA adapters so all the info I have so far is that one is an Intel model (a1176) and the other is a PPC model (a1103)....

Chosen Solution I upgraded my 1.83GHz Core Duo Mac Mini to a T7200 Core 2 Duo and 2GB of RAM. The Wifi antenna was being annoying, so I only put it back together as far as reconnecting the internal frame (after reattaching the heatsync of course, wifi antenna is attached to airport card). Had to replace two of the nylon screws that broke. I connected it to a monitor and plugged in the power cord....

Chosen Solution I have this 15” MacBook Pro from 2009, 2.53GHZ, A1286. It will boot, show the Apple logo, and sometimes get to the desktop. Very quickly after it will turn off completely, as if someone pulled the battery (computer completely turns off, not just the backlight or screen). Chosen Solution I changed the battery in my iPhone 7 with an IFIXIT kit yesterday. The repair went well except that the touch ID doesn’t register fingerprints anymore. The home button functions normally otherwise. I’ve removed and attached the screen several times now and can’t see any damage to the ribbon cables. I also disconnected and reconnected the battery. Are there any suggestions for fixing the touch ID? I saw one similar question where the person bought a new screen and was successful....

Chosen Solution Hi guys, I have a iPhone SE here. It’s water damaged, totally dead. When connecting to power supply, before pressing the power button, the phone immediately got about 50ma of power. After pressed the power button, nothing happened, the power stayed at 50ma. It looks like something is wrong in the PMU or the circuits around it. I checked through the board, no short found. I checked the caps around PMU, I found the resistance value of the PP_VCC_Main line is a bit too small (about 170 ohm), but is far from being shorted, using freeze spray doesn’t help in such case....

Chosen Solution My phone will not open at all with both the isclack or a suction cup. As a side note, the screen was replaced a while ago by apple. Make sure you take the two bottom pentalobe screws before doing it. You also need to be careful of the home button ribbon cable that is plugged into the charging port dock assembly. So when you do lift up the screen, make sure you only lift it slightly so you don’t rip the cable....

Chosen Solution I have a Galaxy S6 that I use for app development. Recently, I needed to replace the display, but I’m not sure if I need to use all of the provided adhesive, or any at all. From past experience, this adhesive is a mess to remove (especially the copper-colored areas on the back of the panel), and will most likely destroy the display assembly if I ever need it off again....

Chosen Solution On the teardown of apple watch, it talks about a microphone flex cable, which is part of the force touch assembly. Is this incorrect information? (Original apple watch) I tore a part of the force touch sensor and my microphone isnt working. Could be a coincidence. I bought the watch broken. -thanks It is not part of it. However, there are many 3rd party software that recover lost data. You will have to remove the SD card from the back of the device and connect it to your computer. No there are only recycling bins in computers...

Chosen Solution when i turn on my macbook it sometimes has the isight led light on and i don’t have anything on in login or widgets. It sometimes freaks me out how do i turn it off? The iSight camera should only come on if you are using an application that utilizes the camera. If you have made sure that you are not running any apps like FaceTime, Skype, etc. etc....

Chosen Solution The display still works but the drop broke the left hand hinge pin out of the display; snapped the cheap pot metal and all. Am I stuck buying the entire display assembly. This is still in warranty but of course they won’t cover this! If you’ve broken the frame (which is Aluminum, not pot-metal) then the frame must be replaced (a major DIY project). If you’ve broken a clutch (Apple speak for hinge) that would have to be replaced....
