Chosen Solution I started up my MBP, A1150 and a puff of smoke rose from behind the display. I now use an external display by mirroring (thanks to CMD-F1). I can however see faint movement on the display - so it seems like the illumination has gone? Any advice appreciated. The symptoms would indicate a failed inverter board. Pull the starter and spin it while not engaging the engine to see if the screeching is in the starter or if it is in the engine. if its runs silent then the problem is in the engine if the screech continues when the starter is run when not in the bike means you need a new starter....
Chosen Solution Every now and again my MBP will just shut down. It’s become quite annoying. My only theory for the issue is that it’s somehow over heating or drawing to much power and is trying to protect it’s self and so it just shuts down. It will do it while plugged in or on batter, more times on battery though than plugged in. I’ve ran multiple hardware tests and everything comes back fine....
